I find some things written in the book incorrect with all my respect to the writer of the book. I am a 14 year old girl that believes peolple shouldn't judge any relegion by reading only one point of veiw.And if anyone wants information about a relegion such as islam he should ask a muslim

I can say the world become enlighted with the coming of the prophet Mohammed. Many nations become free from old superstions and oppresions. Islam is the relegion of peace. Muhammed was a leader and humble person at the same time. Personally iam a moredate muslim, but i totally refuse your call for muslims being converted to christianity, and personally I think no one will pay heed to your call, because you are simply a racist and an enemy of Islam. Finally, iam very proud to be mulism (true islam not the one of Osama bin ladin or Abu musab alzarqawi).

As a practicing evangelical Christian, I take issue with the recent stream of books like Fr. Menezes' that equates today's terrorism with the religion itself, in this case the Muslim religion. As practiced by most Muslims today, the Muslim religion is a conservative, moral religion, and is a moderating influence against violence for real Muslims. True, there has been historical violence in many religions; witness the Christian Inquisition and its conquests of native peoples worldwide. We even have Christian terrorists in the U.S. at abortion clinics and amongst the Morons. Fr. Menezes should realize that Christians should not scandalize one religion over another because that can be argued both ways. Instead, we should set the example of tolerance.

It is obvious from this book that Mohammed is not a prophet of God. Muslims...as well as Mormons and others whose religion is based on the teachings of a false prophet... would be wise to save their souls from perdition and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. As Jesus said in the Holy Gospels "He who has the Son has life."

How could many Jews and Christians amongst his contemporaries become Muslims and believe in his truthfulness if they knew that he was copying from their scriptures or learning from their priests or rabbis? It is known that some of the Qur’anic revelations came to Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, in the presence of people. The Qur’an was revealed during the span of twenty-three years, where then was that mysterious perhaps, invisible human teacher of Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him? How could he have hidden himself for so long? Or how could Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, who was constantly surrounded by followers, how was he able to make frequent secret visits to that mysterious teacher or teachers for twenty-three years without being caught even once? Some Information Given in the Qur’an that are Not Mentioned in the Bible or Old Testament:
1. Some of the Prophets mentioned in the Qur’an i.e. Hud for the Thamud and Salih for the `Ad people are not even mentioned in the Bible.
2. Information given in the Qur’an about Prophet Ibrahim specifically about his teachings on monotheism and the resultant struggle is not found in the Bible.
3. Jesus speaking in the cradle confirming the chastity of his mother, his giving life to the birds made in clay by God's permission, the table descending from heaven.
4. Musa traveling to the "meeting place of two seas".
5. The incident of Pharaoh's plan to kill Musa and that a "believer" in Pharaoh's court dissuaded him from carrying out his plan.
6. Musa striking the 12 springs for each of the Jewish tribe.
7. The magicians in Pharaoh’s court died for their belief in God.
8. Qur’an contradicts accounts given in the Bible:
9. The angels visiting Ibrahim on their way to Lut;
10. The preaching of Nuh was specifically monotheism according to Qur’an;
11. Qur’an categorically denies that concept of trinity and confirm that Jesus was no more than a Prophet - not god, not the son-of-god and not the trinity;

13. Qur’an states that all the prophets are noble men sent by Allah and clears all of the prophets from evil intention or evil actions, as against what can be found in the Bible.
14. Qur’an testifies that all the prophets of God were sincere to their mission for which they were sent by God, and never betrayed their mission as suggested in the Bible such as Moses, Haroun, or sinned as in the case of Lut, David, Solomon and others.
What Does the Bible say about Mohamed? please read the following prophecies THE AWAITED PROPHET WAS TO COME FROM ARABIA Deuteronomy 33:1-2 combines references to Moses, Jesus and Muhammad. It speaks of God (i.e. God's revelation) coming from Sinai, rising from Seir (probably the village of Sa'ir near Jerusalem) and shining forth from Paran. According to Genesis 21:21, the wilderness of Paran was the place where Ishmael settled (i.e. Arabia, specifically Mecca). Indeed the King James version of the Bible mentions the pilgrims passing through the valley of Ba'ca (another name of Mecca) in Psalms 84:4-6. Isaiah 42:1-13 speaks of the beloved of God. His elect and messenger who will bring down a law to be awaited in the isles and who "shall not fail nor be discouraged till he have set judgement on earth." Verse 11, connects that awaited one with the descendants of Ke'dar. Who is Ke'dar? According to Genesis 25:13, Ke'dar was the second son of Ishmael, the ancestor of prophet Muhammad. There is a clear absence of any ulterior motive on his part, not like today’s prophets. He lived in a greater poverty and suffering as it is out of fulfilling his prophetic mission. The simplicity and austerity of his life continued even after his victory over the pagan who sought to destroy him and to destroy Islam. Until his death, he lived in that simple life. His life was the embodiment of his teaching and a comprehensive model for mankind under all circumstances, peace and war, all circumstances and all [things] needed for realistic human life on earth. His advent was accompanied by numerous extraordinary signs, one of which is the 100% accuracy of all prophecies that he made and the Qur’an which we will discuss in a different topic later on. The fruits of following him sincerely, not paying lip service like most Muslims do today, includes the total positive transformation of the lives of individuals and nations. One Jewish writer by the name of Hart said among the hundreds of most influential personalities in human history, including prophets, number one was prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him.

It saddens me to see that a so called educated Christian, has to resort to warped thinking and mis-interpretations, quotations out of context an so on, in order to surpress the truth of Islam. I am a muslim, and very pleased to be one. I believe in the one true God, the same God that Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus and Muhammad prayed to. As Christ, peace be upon him taught his people "The Lord's Prayer" "Our Father, who art in Heaven...." whilest Christ was on earth. The Quran teaches "I have made you into different nations and tribes that you may come to know one another. Truely, the highest of you in God's sight are those who strive for piety" You are trying to do to Muslims, what the Jews did to Christ (pbuh), and the defamation of Mother Mary's character and purity.

I found this book to be an excellent and detailed treatise on the life and religion of Mohammed. Having been written 85 years ago by a man who lived and worked among those of the Muslim faith enhances its credibility as an unbiased review not tainted by current events. The book provides significant insight into the motivations of both the Jihadists as well as the more moderates among Islam. The fact that some have recently attempted to surpress this book piqued my curiosity and led to my purchase - having now read the book I can see why such do not want Christians, Muslims, or anyone else to read it. And that is exactly why you should.

I hope that one day you find peace in your heart and by opening it to God you search and find the truth which can never be found by analizing only one side of it, but all. Please also investigate for yourself but taking the message as it is not by using only part of it with the intention of distrting the real concept. Please analyze the situations, study the culture at the time of the act and I hope that God will guide you and reward you for your sincerity in spreading the truth.

Speaking of false prophets, this book serves as a primer to future racists and xenophobes on the West's complete lack of understanding of Islam. It is also a fine example of the "academic" right manipulating Christians away from the message of Christ, which is one of love, compassion and understanding. This is done using the same familiar and expected methods: taking information out of context, outright lies, preying on fear and current events, etc. A fine text for those who shun knowledge and understanding, and prefer truth to falacy only when it suits their perverse ideological needs. However, very well written, as was Joseph Goebels.

We live in an age of mis-information. It is commonly believed that if one tells a lie enough some how it becomes true. Mohammad rode on the coat tail of Christianity and the constant devisiveness between the sects of Muslem belief systems, which well predated Christianity but not Judaism. He wanted to give coherence and unity among the Muslem sects. This in itself is noble. But as one among a warring group of nomads (at Mohammad's time, just a few hundred years after Christ)for him unity also meant subversion of other belief systems. In the Crusades,some renegade Catholics tried the same thing. Just like Muslems they used God to cover up for the evils they did. Some Crusades were noble but too many were diabolical. Evil "black popes" from a sect of renegade Jesuits came to power. They practiced witchcraft and used Christianity to undermine Christianity when some stepped to high levels of power within the Catholic Church. Catholicism, just like any church or denomination, has had a lot of power struggles. Mohammad knew that to partly embrace Christianity (at least in the realm of noble thought and ideas)yet to denegrate Christ to merely the level of prophet was a way to merge Christianity into his new religion of Islam. The Bible refers to people that "have a form of godliness yet deny God". It is like quoting Jesus yet twisting His words to meet your needs. Politicians talk about "caring" when they don't care and use that posture of caring to undermine the opponents opposition to their devious ways. If you wonder where such cleverness, yet diabolical tendencies, comes from just look at some children that cleverly get other people in trouble while being the one who caused the problem. The most evil of people use others to achieve their evil desires. Control and manipulation of others is the same as witchcraft. Today there is a problem with terrorists because in their propagandized way of thinking, "the end justifies the means." Politicians, leaders, finance controllers, etc. are caught inthe same trap. How can evil achieve good? How can indescriminately blowing up a group of God's created mankind be justified as "pleasing the Creator"? How can destroying others because of hate be godly? Blow that logic in your pipe and smoke it. It would be nobler to not hide behind women and children to fight an enemy. Incidently, remember that some misguided Catholics killed multitudes of Christians as heretics because they would not worship man and only worshipped God. They claimed that God called them to subvert all to Catholicism. The dark ages resulted because some kept the Word of God out of the hands of God's people. Today, there are some religious cats that want to stop the Word of God but will find out why it is called "the Two-edged Sword" - it divides between flesh and spirit, and points out what God says is right and what God says is wrong. Islam just "cookie cuts" what it want out of the Bible and uses a lot of weak glue to try to integrate Christianity into Islam. God loves people, religious or not. However, God hates religion because it seperates people from Him and the truth in the Word of God (the Bible, not Koran). The writers of the Koran, Buddism, Shintuism, etc died. The author of the Bible, God, is still around. He is a gentleman and will let you do your will unless your will hurts any of His Children then you better watch out. Mankind curses itself and needs a Saviour. Only the Son of God (Word of God)who spoke Creation into existance, could provide the "bridge" back to Father God. Only the Holy Spirit of God can hold all things together and help us on our journey to find Salvation. Buddha, Mohammad, etc can not save you. Only Perfection can create Perfection. Only the "second Adam" could break the curse that keep us out of the Garden of Eden and join us as brothers and sisters in the Family of God. How can evil actions produce good? How can a flawed creation bring itself back to the perfection a perfect Creator demands. Only Jesus Chist can bridge that gap. God says that, "mans (self)righteousness is filthy menstrual cloths to God." All goodness comes from and returs to the glory of God and of His Family of believers (real imitators of Christ called Christians, not religious cats that "make people twice as fit for Hell as themselves."

There are many people who say that we should accept all religions as equal and good. This is ridiculous. Does anyone want to become an Aztec sacrifice? The notion that Islam came from God is also false. Judaism rejects Jesus Christ as Messiah, but does not reject the idea that Jesus taught about the same God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob that Judaism professes. Yet Judaism does not accept Allah as this same deity. Neither do Christians. The most dangerous religion on earth is not truly Islam, it is Political Correctness. This Political Correctness "Religion" leads people to embrace all creeds, all belief systems, and all things as moral. This leads to disaster. Ignorance is no defense. Islam does not accept differing views. It wishes to destroy all who oppose it. If you believe Islam is a religion of peace, you should immigrate to (or visit) Saudi Arabia, if you can. Wake up, people. Menezes lived among Muslims in India and researched Islam with Islam's own source material. Anyone who claims this book is incorrect should give primary source material to "correct" it with. Otherwise, it's just their wishful thinking. This is an excellent book.

It is quite simple to see that priests such as this author have no other option to stop Islams growth other than writing falsely regarding it. This is understandable, I too would clutch at such desperation but would I lower myself to deception, lies and falsehood to stop the spread of another religion (that is the devils tactics is it not)? In a time of oppression, slavery, racism, cruelty and manuy other wicket ways the prophet Muhammad emerged and put an end to all evil dominant at the time. People were so evil they would even bury their daughters alive consider women as property and would consider the black people of society as little more than animals (like the west thought up until very recently). What the author fails to mention is the following acts of piety never before seen on the face of the earth by a single individual;

He abolished racism 1300 years before the west
He stopped the burial of female babies
He altered his course during a march in defence of their wells so as to avoid harming/disturbing an ant colony in their path
He was the only person in the entire Arabian Peninsla entitled 'the trustworthy' for he never spoke a lie and this was before his prophethood
The Meccans oppressed him and his followers, killed their relatives for becoming Muslims, took their property, their wives, their dignity for over 10 years and when the prophet conquered them with 10,000 companions NOT A SINGLE PERSON WAS HARMED! even after all they had done to him
He said that a mans compassion, forgiveness, mercy towards others is one of the most important values.

How unfortunate that the author had to revert to the Devils ways in order stop the spread of a religion that gave so much to the world. There are many Priests and Rabbi's that speak the truth of Islam however including the recently deceased pope who has written so well in regards to the Islam and the last prophet (peace be upon him).

A superbly written and informative book. Almost in the same class as Voltaire's "Mohamet". The misery of today's Islamic civilization follows from the pathology of the religion of Islam. And indeed how can a "religion" conceived by a murderer, thief, liar and paedophil become anything but pathology?

I am going to read your book! I just read the comment of Khalid Mahmood Bhatti and I am emotionally shaken of fear of people like him. As an example, how dare to put Hitler on the same level as our President who enabled the Democracy in Lands we would have never thought to be possible. These people have shown us their bravery by marching to the polls. That freedom is not welcome by Khalid Mahmood Bhatti and his same minded. I am born just after WW two and had to study myself about the Nazi-time in order to have an objective view. For his reason of course, this man did not even mention the not to imaginable cruelties of Saddam Hussein! These sort of people are very dangerous as well as the Americans that have the similar point of view and condemn our own land, glorify these religions as freedom of speech but undermine the Christians at all means. They do not remember how wonderful a pure patriotic feeling is, as I felt it when coming as a legal immigrant from Germany in 1993! Thank you.

It is clear while you read the book that the author has an agenda. Islam spread by the sword? You could say the same about Hinduism, Christianity and almost any religion. So what? Much of the book is made up of distortions, and everything is phrased to sound as negative as possible. Funny, I just can't see the brave author write critically about Judaism, a religion that states that all non-Jews are "goyim," cattle, placed on earth by God to serve Jews as slaves. Shows who's in charge in the world of book publishing.

For those who are truly interested in truth, rather than waste your money on divisive trash pickup the book " What did Jesus really say? ". It is a very scholarly work (verses bigoted propaganda) which uses biblical sources from Christian scholars verifying the credibility of the Q'uran by using the Bible itself.

Unlike most of the morons who have recorded comments about this author's work, I read the book. The book is researched well and not full of quotes taken out of context as many here claim. I challenge those of Islam to read this work and present a well thought out logical challenge to the assertions of the author, not the rantings and musings of unsubstantiated speculation. I also do not criticize those who are muslims. I do not ask them to have my faith, nor will I submit to their beliefs. If you want to comment about this work at least read it. I especially marveled at those Christians and Muslims who criticized or supported this work and in doing so illustrated a lack of knowledge in regard to their purported religious beliefs.

Though I’m Muslim I fail to take these types of book into heart, there are better things to worry about in this world than bigots like yourself. I am very sorry to say that, Mr.Menezes, J.L, who was priest who lived among Muslims and knew Islam very close: as a priest in India, and he devoted his priestly life to introducing that nation’s ten of millions of Muslims to Christianity, as introduced in the site, is keeping in mind a bundle of misunderstandings about Islam and Prophet Muhammad, like a large number of missionaries who didn’t studied Islam and the Prophet. At now , I only invite him and other Christian missionaries like him to study Islam and The Prophet, through the Quran and the verses of Muhammad and criticize, not through the valuations of the enemies of Islam. As I read other reviews, obviously from blinded Muslims (whose english grammar could use some brushing up also), it is obvious that they did not read this text. Islam has never been exposed to the scholarly examination that Christianity has. When it is, a cry of "bigotry" comes from witless Muslims who conveniently forget that their "prophet" personally led battles and the Koran is diametrically opposed to what westerners view as democracy and freedom. The religion of peace? Folks, it was not Methodists that crashed into the twin towers. Islam is a philosophical cancer that must be contained if not eliminated. After all, Jesus said "only through ME will you find the father". He said I am "THE" way not "a" way. This sad cult seeks to spread the word of its false prophet throughout the world. American beware!!

I like Mohammed the Great, Prophet of God, and I follow him and all of his orders. I am ready to die at his foot, because of his right ideas, thinkings and words.

Most of the "Reviews" submitted by Muslims are easily identified by them obviously not reading the book. Most wrote as if the book was recently written. Any comments made against Islam or Mohammed are considered to be automatically racist or spoken from ignorance. This book was written about first hand experiences of a peaceful missionary and his many years of research into the world of Islam. Can the same be said of those that have written of the "hate-filled or racist" content of the book? Have they actually read the book? The book tries to enlighten the reader through the experiences of the missionary as well as YEARS OF RESEARCH. I dare say the author knew more of and about Islam than those that harshly critisize his work. Only a ignorant person would call this book racist. There are many things in modern Christianity that stray far from the original teachings of Christ. Many books that were omitted from the modern bible and many translations and omissions have caused most to be mislead in their worship and beliefs. But even the most offended and fanatical of today's Christians do not call for the death of the authors who have written such revealing materials. Some say that Christianity was also spread by the power of the sword (Inquisitions and such), but they fail to mention that it was not Christianity but the Roman Catholics/Vatican that was responsible. Oh how the blindly the sheep will follow the sheppard. Oh how the ignorant will believe the teacher. Oh how the child dutifully obey the parent. Jesus taught that not just he but all of us are sons and daughters of God. This book should make EVERYONE, Muslims, Christians, Jews, Buddhists and all, ask the question, "Which is evil or of the Devil? To KILL in the name of God (Allah) or LOVE in the name of God (Allah)?"

This is a great book. How anyone can follow the teachings of a man who married a six year old girl, and consummated the marriage when she was nine, I'll never know. In Mohammad's cult, slavery, polygamy, and inequality are divinely appointed. How interesting that pagan Arab rituals were so readily appointed by islam's founder. One of the most revealing things about his cult is his misunderstanding of the Christian Trinity. How could a "prophet of God" make such a substantial error? And why not tell us where the body of Jesus is if he truly is NOT the one crucified by the Romans? Surely God's prophet would know such a thing! The Dead Sea Scrolls are evidence that the Word of God has been consistent for thousands of years,yet Mohammad claims that it has been corrupted because it doesn't point to him. He has put himself ahead of Christ, making himself an "anti-Christ". My only complaint is that J.L. Menezes says at the end that only Catholics will go to heaven, which contradicts the Word of God. GREAT BOOK!

It should first be noted, that books, such as the one written by Mr. Menezes, follow a long tradition in the west of attacking Islam and the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). No wonder Mr. Menezes life was such a failure in converting people to Christianity, since he probably could not explain the a nonsensical concept such as the trinity. By the way, conservatives always believe that you are responsible for your own actions, doesn't apply to their religion that teaches an innocent person, Jesus, died for their sins. Wow! I commit a crime, and someone goes to prison. Great system! Remember, Christianity is a religion of faith, not actions, and why this religion has failed on every count of stopping amoral behavior. In comparison, Islam is a religion that has effectively treated these same social issues. Forbidden alcohol, does not permit sex before marriage, allows divorce, allows contraceptives, is against homosexuality, against pornography, and abortion. It is the weakness of Christianity in allowing these social problems to expand, while Islam has kept them in check. And for the talk of Islam as a violent culture, it has been the judeo-christian nations that have caused and fought two wars that resulted in themselves close to 100 Million dead. This is not to suggest Christianity allows such bloodshed, but that the teachings of a great prophet such as Jesus were ignored. 2000 years, and Christianity has probably 200 years left on this planet as a religion of signficance.

Indeed, that's another evidence of your bigotry, racism and narrow-mindedness. You should know that the majority of muslims that express themselves in this forum are using english as a second language (and sometimes as the third or fourth language). If you could speak (to the same level) a second language as they do in english, you would be a little bit less dumb. And by the way, I'm sure that if the Nazis had won the second world war you'd be defending your language the same stupidly patriotic way you did. with a small difference: you would be speaking German, and the rest of the world as well! Father Menezes could have written this book without researching any further than medieval Catholic documents responding to Islam and the Prophet Muhammad at the time of the Crusades. With a virtual monopoly on all printed texts in the hands of the Church, and with literacy at a minimum in Europe, propaganda against Islam was rampant for hundreds of years. Many of these sources are extant and reading them today, one can understand why erroneous arguments against Islam, such as those in this book, persist for centuries. A cursory study of the Qur'an, Islam, and the life of the Prophet Muhammad reveals a very different picture than the one Father Menezes promotes. I am sure he will make a lot of money on this book because of the rampant ignorance of Islam that exists in the US, but I encourage those who are truly interested to read books that use critical research and do not begin with an agenda to tear down one religion in order to build up another. And, if it makes any difference, I am a Christian from a Christian tradition; I chose to study Islam from scholarly sources.

I read the book. Actually, the author has a lack of knowledge. He never read not only the holy Quran but also the holy Bible. He is blind. Actually, Mohammed is the real successor of Christ. Mohammed successfully completed the unfinished duties of Moshe, Jesus Christ and all the prophets. That's why God call him the greatest. God sent Jesus in this world so that Jesus would give God's massage to the peoples. So that, people can pray only for god not for Jesus. Jesus had a great prayer of God's too. But today people forget God. They just pray to Jesus. Jesus was just a messenger of God nothing else. So, I suggest the Author please, open your eyes. Read Bible, Quran both with your mind. Look everywhere in the world today, every major and minor conflict in one way or another involves muslims not being able to get along with their neighbors. Religion of peace? Yeah, if your all muslim I guess. A muslim leader in New Zealand was quoted in saying in one of New Zealand's daily papers, "What is more important, freedom of speach or offending 1/5 of the worlds population?". I say freedom of speech or all is lost and we'll have no freedom at all. What a loving god this Alah must be. As a Christian and I look at the examples of how the Apostles like Stephen met their death, with dignity, standing and preaching of the love of Jesus, they did not cry or cowar, they peacfuly stood for what was right. Jesus started the true religion of peace and I follow him, and pray for muslims everywhere to know the joy of knowing Jesus.

Sadly, our world is dominated by followers of unelightened superstitions. While Menezes is correct to point out the violence and aggression of Mohammed and his followers, he does so only to then offer his prefered superstition. Rational thinkers should be frightened by the resurging violence of Moslem radicals, but slipping into Christian delusions is not the answer. It is true that Christianity is currently much more peaceful than Islam. One reason for this is that the constant invocations to destroy infidels found throughout the Koran simply make it easier for Moslems to justify and engage in violence. Another reason is that most Christians have rejected or ignore much of the Bible. Those few who continue to insist on a literal interpretation of the Bible would gladly have "infidels" put to death. Religions based on faith are always dangerous. There is no way to prevent or refute ridiculous assertions made by someone claiming to be a "prophet". Mohammed's creation is especially violent, but let us turn toward rational enlightenment, not another indefensible superstition.

I read this book with fascination. It is a preliminary book that should have a follow up: Islam a religion in search of reformation. Unlike Christianity, which had a reformation 400 or so years ago, Islam is still waiting for its. But it won't happen because unlike the Christ Messiah who was called to make the ultimate sacrifice for the sake of mankind's salvation, nothing like that exists with Mohammed or with Islam. It is a religion that justifies a culture, it does not create a culture. That Islamic culture is one of hatred and domination, not of compassion or mercy.

First, I hope that Muslims reading these “reviews” will not believe that Christians hate them. We do not. I am not a muslim but I think this book is not worth reading. It does not matter how a person lived his life but what he taught to the world knowingly or unknowingly. I have read some techings of Muhammad, he may not be a prophet, but his teachings are based on humanity which does not distinguish between religions as we now a days do. If the vast majority of Muslims are moderate and peace loving, then why don't they riot in the streets in anger over people being beheaded in the name of their peace loving religion? as a messenger (prophet) of God, then how do you reconcile the fact that Christ said He is God throughout the bible? Fr. Menezes believed Islam to be an exceptionally violent religion. If we count the number of civilians slaughtered in the past past two World Wars by "Chrisitan" armies, one inevitably reaches a different conclusion.

If you have a truly open mind about religion, you will appreciate the facts in this book. Too many people have swallowed the "big lie" about Islam being a peaceful religion. None of these people has read the Qur`an and studied its interpretation by Muslim scholars. Too many have read the apologists' lies and rationalizations of the irrational. Humanitarian religions are not created by pedophile pirates who convert their victims by the sword, even if we wish to call these creators of the cult "prophets." Unfortunately, the greatest victims of Islam are the Muslims, many of whom are decent, humane, peace-loving people DESPITE their repressive religion. Thankfully, most do not observe every tenet of their brutal sect. Let us hope that Fr. Menedes book becomes a best-seller, especially among our legislators and Homeland Security officials, so that they may understand the dangers of the Muslim mentality and its vile source - Islam.

Gibran Khalil Gibran makes a very good argument in his response to the Desert Storm veteran. However to call Timothy McVeigh and Terry Nichols Christians would be like calling any Muslim or Hindu or agnostic a Christian. To call anyone who is not a Muslim a Christian is wrong. Only those who are born again in Christ can be labeled as such. Only those accepting Jesus Christ as LORD and the son of GOD Most High who sits today as before the foundation of the world can be labeled Christian. Only those who have asked forgiveness for their sin through Christ's death on the cross can be considered Christian. That leaves out a lot of people here in the US as well as the world. All we need to know as men are that all men are sinners. Period. We all fall short in GOD's eyes and need someone to intercede because of our sin in GOD's presence. We need a kinsman redeemer, someone who has made a sufficient sacrifice to appease GOD. How is it that the blind see and the deaf hear, but perfectly healthy men (and women) fail to see the truth? Books written by men are just that, books written by men. Books written with the inspired "Word of GOD" cannot be measured by worldly authors. GOD says in Jeremiah, "Write these things I tell you in a book". Do you believe your book is correct? You'd better be right!

I want to commend Menezes for his courage in writing this book. Few, especially Roman Catholic priests, have spoke the truth when it comes to Islam. Many Western Muslims try to appeal to non-muslims that they are a peaceful and tolerent religion, but this is only a smokescreen to "convert" non-muslims to the religion of Mohammed. If you want to know the truth of what a religion really believes and affirms look to its documents and writings. This author has done an excellent job in looking at the writings of Islam. I am somewhat amazed that a Roman Catholic priest would write on this subject considering that Rome teaches that even Muslims can be saved. As a Protestant minister who affirms without apology the truth of the Protestant reformation, I applaud this courageous man for his work and am anxious to purchase a copy for myself.

From the responses to the review of Menezes book, it shows how important his work and research really is. Many still do not understand the truth of Islam. Mohammed was not a prophet and he did not bring any light to the world. Islam regards women as inferior to men and is an enemy of freedom. Go to any Muslim country, such as Iran, and you will see the real influence that this false prophet has had on these countries. Islam has only one goal; world domination. But the kingdoms of this world will be crushed and one day become the kingdoms of the Lord Jesus Christ, who is alone the true prophet, priest, and king. Only He can bring true freedom and liberation to people. May His name be praised as the true Allah.

As a muslim, I must say that I'm devastated by what the author has written. It all goes to show the extent to which some missionaries can go to present a totally distotred view of one of the main heavenly religions in the world. He seems to have confirmed the West's deeply rooted concept of the clash of civilisations. If some individuals are violent, it is only wise to avoid over-generalising. It seems that despite his pritracted sojourn near muslim communities in India, he failed to grasp the meaning of true Islam. He should have been in a better position to promote love and understanding among the Islamic and Christian peoples istead of undermining all the efforts made by others in this field.

He was both good and evil, but unfortunately, when he turned to evil, he never turned back to being good again. Mohammed instituted the practice of ABROGATION whereby he could issue an edict, based on a revelation, that contradicted a previous one. The reasons why there are contradictory passages in the Qu'ran is because the author himself kept changing the rules to suit his needs. Islam may have started out being a religion of Peace, but peaceful religions like Judaism, Buddism, and Christianity (before the Crusades and after the Inquision) do not seek to satisfy their headonistic desires. It is as if the "Seven Deadly Sins" of Christianity, like greed, murder, adultery, gluttony, became the moral credo of Mohammed and his followers. Those who claim that Islam is a religion of peace selectively focus on only the good deeds of the Prophet and the preaceful sayings in the Qu'ran (which were lifted from the Jewish and Christian Bibles). Likewise, those who preach Jihad will ignore the good stuff Mohammed did in his early years, and focus on the bad stuff that he did for most of his life. Here's an analogy: A traffic light is supposed to be one color at a time, either red (stop), yellow (caution) or green (go). The Qu'ran is light a trafffic light that changes randomly...sometimes it's green, and sometimes it's red. Understanding it requires knowing internally what is right and what is wrong apart from what it says. In other words, if the traffic light is red, but other cars around you are going, how do you know if you should go or stop? One thing I can tell you is that the answer cannot be found solely in the Qu'ran, and that is the big mistake of the Fundamentalist mindset.

When Mohammed left the cave at Hera, he was under the undeniable impression that he had just been attacked by the devil, i.e. Satan! He had no delusions that he had an experience with God or any of God's Angels. He went to his home in great fear for his life. He actually wanted to commit suicide because of the dreadful nature of his so-called "holy" experience. He was sure he had met the devil. And, Mohammed was right. It was his wife, Kadija, who insisted his terrible experience was something good. She insisted that he was a prophet. She was wrong. Mohammed was right. Anyone who has had a real spiritual experience with God, the true God, the Creator of Man, would never be under the impression that he had been in the presence of Satan. Satan is so evil that it is only by being in the presence of Satan that one feels like he has been in the presence of Satan. This concept is so simple it's obvious. Mohammed was right; he was attacked by Satan and no one else! It follows therefore, that everything he learned, everything he "uttered", came from Satan, the father of all lies. What then is Islam based upon? The lies of Satan.

It is a truth that Menezes presents in his study. Islam is a baseless and a false religion born out of hatred for the Jews and Christians. To every one in this world there is only one life to live and only one chance given before they die- that is to recieve Lord Jesus Christ as their only Savior and Lord. There is no other religion on this earth that can take you to heaven except through the work of Christ on the cross. Repent and recieve Jesus into your life before it is too late. Muhhamed's false promise of virgins in paradise for the the jihadists is sufficient enough to proove this religion to be completely in lack of moral ethics and each muslim's pursuit in paradise. All religions other than Judaism are intellectually dishonest. Jesus was NOT God and Mohammed was NOT a profet. If I told you that I had a revelation you would say I was mad. If 600,000 people all had the same revelation at the same place and time you would have to take notice. So was it at Sanai when the Lord revealed himself to the children of Israel. No other revelation has any credibility.

The right of free speech and assembly of Muslims in America and Canada is guaranteed. Mosques and Islamic Prayer Centers are springing up all over the West..... Is this true in the East? No. New churches may not be built in the Middle East...permits are not granted for that. In the few places where churches exist, they may not be repaired or fixed without extensive pay-offs. May Christians freely gather and worship and pray in Saudi Arabia? May they proselytize? In the U.S. Muslims are free to speak to Christians about their faith and attempt to convert them. The same is NOT true in the East.... The West needs to wake up quick...... pull its head out of the sand and quit hearing what it, in its fear, wants to hear...about "peaceful religions...."

Interesting that the Kabaa is considered the tomb of Adam . . . when Muhammad knew it was a Vedic temple of idolatry.

I belive that Islam is the truth and that MOHAMMED (PBUH)is a prophate and the last one from ALLAH. If we look at its past and we look at it today, all we see is intolerance, violence, wars, hate, lies, etc. While I am sure there are "some" peaceful, wonderful Muslims, there are many more than a handful that are not. If Islam is so peaceful, why do we not see these peaceful, wonderful Muslims protesting and screaming out to the world against these possessed animals that are doing the most horrid things this generation has ever known? There is a world of difference in Christianity's dark past and Islam's dark past and present. It was the powerful rulers that used Christianity to gain more power, with the people being unable to overcome the power and these powerful leaders were going totally against what Jesus taught; it is Muslims themselves in the past and the present who are killing in so many different countries today and they are following exactly what I have read in their own holy books and just as they did in the past. Muslims are involved in at least 19 out of about 22 armed conflicts we see in the world today. About the only time we see them being peaceful is if they are only a very small percentage of the population or their leaders are so brutal that they do not dare do anything. It isn't my intention to put down Muslims, but this is what I see and what I have read. I would love to see a Muslim post a review that shows us anything to the contrary with proof. But as usual, I only see mostly anger, hate and name-calling by the Muslims. Also, I find it strange that Muslims should call anyone a racist, and even have the nerve to say that Muhammad actually stopped racism when almost every Muslims I have known are the most racist people I have ever met in my life towards the Jews, especially, and towards most all non-Muslims and even towards some Muslims. And when I asked Muslims why they feel the way they do about Jews, they point me to the very scriptures they follow where Jews are spoken of so harshly. Yes, Christians were very racist towards Jews at one time; but nowhere in the Bible did it teach them to be this way. In fact, it was mostly Jews that started Christianity. This was due to ignorance without freedom of speech and press. The ignorance of the world without freedom of speech and press will remain until their own people stop fighting against their own rights.

Something very unique is brought out in the book - the truth! Islam is not a religion of peace, quite the opposite - it has instigated wars in evey region and time it has touched.

Any fair person who knows Islam and Mohammad well, find this book part of the propaganda against islam to stop its accelerating spread against all the odds. Islam is the only evidence-based religion and all its resources are authentic and well preserved. Father Menezes shows Mohammed for the brilliant politician that he was. He was able to unite the nomads under the religion that he created. He even kept the crescent moon, the nomad moon god. It is no wonder that 1500 years later, most of the countries that follow this religion are now as backward as those original tribes, and in some cases, worse. In America, the very same method of creating a religion based on alleged prophecies given by angels was done by Joseph Smith when he created Mormonism. Smith followed Mohammed almost to a tee, although his attempts at violence usually ended with him and his followers on the run.

i've read all the reviews and i'm struck by the fact that no one seems to have taken into account when it was initially published. 1912, for goodness sake! think back, what was the social climate of the times? let's see, blacks were only half human, there were signs in shop windows "irish need not apply", africans were "savages" or "heathens". i wonder what name we would have applied to muslims--at the time. menezes, i'm sure, was a product of his time and to read this book without that as a "filter", is to read half the book. I plan to read the book very soon, but to be honest. I think I learned all I need to know just from reading the reviews. Either call our lord Jesus a fake, or god himself, there is really no middle ground. Either he and god are one in the same, or he is a liar as you insinuate. Islam will not (and cannot) reconcile it's self with humanity, because it was designed by humanity. We humans are,in fact,dumb animals(sheep). It is only when we rely on the holy spirit to enlighten us that we will really understand the truth. (after thought) Tolerance is a very dangerous word. please don't "muddy the waters" with such a term. Tolerance lies in the "limbo" that exists between right and wrong. Simply state " everyone needs to RESPECT the beliefs of others" nothing more. I imagine if I were in Iran I could be killed for what I have just written. Rest assured Muslim americans, you will not be harmed for what you have written. We (true Christians) are not "tolerant" but respectful.

There is no proper evidence that Prophet Muhammad ordered the killing of his opponants.Rather he never showed any reaction to the accesses done to him. Menezes got it mostly right, living in contact with Muslims in their daily lives. It seems he struck a few raw nerves. All the rhetoric brings to mind a Muslim phrase "turnspeak". It is the practice of saying one thing and meaning another. In other words, lying is an acceptable form of Jihad, especially to infidels. To find the truth forget about all the words and just observe Islam around the world. That is truth.Violent domination of the world is their only aim. Slaughter of innocents and terrorism are the only chosen methods.Everthing else is just smoke and mirrors. What J.L. Menezes has done is a great thing. How does one justify a book that is so violent etc versus The Book that can be physically proven to come from the finger of God in pretty much an infinite number of ways?? No other book claims to come from outside the time domain while proving it for one. No other book has only one way to God and Heaven while proving it multitudinous times over. I'm not just talkin about simple ELS' (equadistant letter sequences) either which can be found in any large volume. I'm talking about engineering a masterpiece using ELS' THAT IN NO WAY COULD HAVE BEEN DONE BY MAN ALONE, BUT HAVE BEEN ENGINEERED BY THE CREATOR HIM SELF because he loves us sooooo much he proves Himself to us that He is the ONLY WAY! His ELS' are also so very often relavent to the text with in which they are found. ** "The things done by God here make it statistically absured (impossible) that any of these things done, could happen by accident." How do you explain the hidden messages beneath the surface of the text that point to Gods authorship of His Word and Jesus as His Messiah? How do you explain the extreme consistancy used thru 40 some authors over thousands of years? How do you explain in the Gospels all the "parts of 7's?" That is, one author used 7 words the others didn't. Another author used 7 styles another didn't, another mentions or does things that no one else did etc. See ** above. Archeology proves the Bible. While I don't have an archelogical background I'm wise enough yet to see He has proven this to me. History proves the Bible. Another no brainer if you are honest about it. Science proves the Bible. Although the Book isn't necessarily a scientific book, it never errs due to the Author's divine knowlege. No other holy book even comes close to the scientific revelation found there in. Numerics prove the Bible. Study the numerical values of the ancient original text - words AND letters. God has some pretty unique ways He fingerprints His Word here too. When you honestly seek these things out, you will have no choice but to be convinced there is no other book out there that has the integrity of design the Bible has. The Bible - Gods Word. Proven beyond a shadow of a doubt. Read it, He will change your life. Submit to Him and learn of His AWESOME LOVING WAYS. He has NEVER let me down in my 34 years of being a follower of Jesus Christ. You should check into this too. And how about the extreme use of consistant number useage and word patterns and values found all over The Book? Even the numerical value of the text it self has extreme hidden treasures to be sought out. NO OTHER BOOK CAN DO THESE THINGS TO THIS EXTREME DIVINLY INSPIRED EXTENT! NONE! Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life. ANYONE that wants to know the truth--the real truth--about God needs only to look at Him. Those who don't want to believe in the Truth about God or know His Ways or live His Life can believe in Islam or any of the other pagan religions. When they say that many converted to Islam from other religions - they don't mention that much of that was due to the way muslims force conversion. Either by death and torture, dhimmihood, or slavery. Not too many choices for many people. Saying that Islam is a religion of peace is a joke. It means to submit. And they use god as their weapon. Mohammed used god as his pass for lechery, lying, murder and thievery. All he did was make up a sura to pass of his ugly deed(s). A book worth reading to understand a lot of what we are up against. This is a great book. I've read it and it speaks the truth. Now, to refute someone's claim that Mohammed was a man of integrity... He was the only man to lead a religion and marry an underage girl to be his wife. His wife was still playing with dolls when she was given into marriage. He was one of the first pedophilers! Muslims participated in the African Slave trade. Arabs captured Blacks in Northern Africa and sold them to the Europeans and Americans. This historical fact doesn't support the claim that Mohammed wiped out slavery, racism and discrimination 1500 years before the West. As a matter of fact, Christians and Jews are second class citizens in Arab countries up to this very day!!! If Muslim have indeed wiped out racism, why is this the case today in Muslim countries? Mohammed signed a cease fire agreement with the city of Mecca when he was weak. When he became stronger, he broke the treaty and conquered Mecca. He forced the entire city to convert to Islam by the sword. In other words, Mohammed went back on his word and lied. He doesn't sound like a very honest man. Mohammed tried to convert Jews to Islam, but when they rejected him, he became angry and declared Jihad against them. Mohammed invented Jihad (Holy War) against all non-Muslims. He doesn't sound like a very forgiving man to me. Mohammed deceived billions of Arabs and non-Arabs with his religion and many are in bondage today filled with hatred towards Jews and Christians. Mohammed invented Jihad. Mohammed chose one idol/god out of thousands of idols/gods in Mecca and declared it to be the god of the Jewish and Christian bible. The Meccan god that Mohammed chose was the moon god; that is why the Islam symbol is a crescent moon. This Meccan moon god isn't the same god as written in the Jewish and Christian bible. Shall we continue with the war crimes, genocide and imperialism of Islam? I think we have more than enough evidence that Islam isn't peaceful and that Mohammed was a man who was only interested in power and self-gratification. Mohammed is hardly a man to be labeled a prophet or a holy man. He is even less likely to be labeled as a man of integrity.

The book explains the ugliness of Islam. Islam has always professed to be a religion of peace but has never practiced it except for a brief period of time. As an ex-muslim, I know all the ins and outs of this religion. We pretend to be friends and keep low key when facing people where the majority are christains as in US. The ugliness comes out once muslims have power as they have demonstrated for years. Being two-faced is simply built-in into the religion. Islam is religion of narrow mindedness hate and the only thing that unites muslims is hatred toward other religions. The jews have served this purpose very well.

God loves ALL mankind, regardless of races, skin colours, religions etc. God wants everyone to live a life that is full of love, joy, peace, patience, abundance, righteous, pure, true honesty etc. When we are living in the light or be the follower of God, Almighty, we should not be agreeeing or doing anything belong to darkness, evil, hatre, lying, killing another, control ones'freedom, wrong sexual behaviours, torture your fellow human in the name of justice, revenge or vengence in the name of God or justice. God is not blind or deaf, He is everlasting, all powerful, all presence,and living God. Revenge or vengence on the wickedness or evil doing/works are God's work. God will uphold justice and love to all mankind. He is in control. We should NEVER take over God's job to destroy another human in the name of God or justice. However, we also cannot stop anyone from doing evil, murder, lying, slandering, sexual abusing another fellow human etc. Many of these acts were committed by God fearing human being. Therefore Jesus said "Not all who call me Lord, Lord will enter the kingdom of God,except those who are obeying the Father's will" Belief or religion is a personal and sensitive issue. Debating about right or wrong on ones' belief or religion will always hurt one party or another. how can we live together in harmony,how can we testify God's love to one another? So, I advise all to be sensible and careful not to hurt one another. Please stop condemning or destroying one another belief. The book is certainly offending any muslim who believe in Mohamad being the true prophet of God. Christians worldwide should continue to love and respect our muslim brothers ans sisters despite all the sad happenings worldwide. It is not a matter who is right or wrong,the truth shall prevail, if we can love one another. God asks us to love our enemies, even though they have killed our loved ones. Still we should love them. Jesus said the greatest of all is still LOVE. Very difficult or close to impposible, still we must forgive and love. Only God's love can supercede ALL.

Welllll, as for the world's "most violent religion" I would say Christianity takes the cake, I have alot of dead ancestors that Christians killed for "their own good, to save their souls." I refer interested parties to Rage Against The Machine's "Killing in The Name of..." Entire peoples have been wiped out by the Christians around the globe, throughout the 2000 years its been around. Sad fact, Jesus' religion was dead as soon as he was.

This book is superb, from start to finish. Peace can never come to the Islam world through worship of the false prophet Mohammed. As the author points out, Mohammed was a flawed man, lustfull, sinfull, and full of pride and hatred. Jesus Christ is the only true messiah, flawless and perfect in all ways, he came and died for our sins. All a "true" Muslim would have to do is really read the Quran to see the countless contradictions and then read the Bible to see the real word of God. I pray for the lost souls of Islam and pray that the truth will hunt them, and the light will shine on their souls.

The book is a marvellous study. Buy it. Also buy a Koran, and look it up on the Internet. It is harder to find the Hadith/Sunnah and the Shariah, but if you persist you will find the horrible facts -- like other ancient religions, it calls on its followers to attack other people, and makes excuses to attack even fellow-Muslims. I find it disturbing that an ill-intentioned, self proclaimed religious figure such as the author of this book, will profit from the malleable minds of ignorant individuals; I would have a imagined that a "man of God", as the author may call himself, would have been focused on more constructive ways of spreading the word of God. Instead, it seems like the author has ironically chosen the path of violence, declaring war on Islam, berating an entire group of people, and proclaming the religion a cult. I only wonder how ruthless and arrogant one must be in order to take such an un-Godly and malevolent position. I cannot imagine how God would ever be proud of this. As a Christian woman, I learned certain important messages (messages I strongly believe are not exclusive to Christianity or any religion): to have respect for all and to be careful of throwing stones at others. What gives one the authority to categorize another religion as evil? What makes any of us so certain that we are more accurate than any other person when it comes to religion, a realm open to subjectivity and founded merely upon faith and the writings of mankind? Spending our essence, conjuring heavy loaded statements about an entire class of people, categorizing them as "evil" is in my book a terrible sin. I humbly speculate that God will not be applauding such a book that is plagued with one man's misinterpretations and distortions of a faith. I am not going to ignore the events of this era (where we have inevitably become preoccupied with the atrocities of terrorism) but let's not forget our history and the awful events that have taken place in the name of ANY religion ANY cause. Don't look too far, just refresh your memory a bit about the Catholic Church's own tainted history. The author's attempt at throwing all of Islam and its followers into one big pot and calling it a religion of violence seems to me like he's doing some political propaganda for Bush's bandwagon. The same way he derides (and substantially distorts if I may add) the "extreme" views of Islam, I would argue his evidently extreme position, adding that the validity of any seemingly exaggerated perspective is typically absent. The saddest part of this is that he will try to quench with his inaccuracies the hunger of the ignorant masses who continually thirst for misinformation. I suspect God frowns at us when he sees us engaging in such despicable and childish acts. I would also imagine that rather than continuing all the negative publicity about one group or another, it may be more of an act of love if we try to learn more about each other in less hostile ways. Personally, as a Christian woman married to a Muslim man and being embraced by a wonderful family, I can tell you that I only wish others would get a glimpse of the incredible blessing that has come into my life. I have been educating myself as much as I can and in the process I have also tried to educate others about what I have learned. The lessons I have gathered from my own journey into this new culture are many, the most salient being how I wish we would all give ourselves the opportunity to really get to know someone who comes from a different culture, race, ethnicity, etc., and be so pleasantly surprise at how much that individual may resemble us so. In all areas of the world, in all countries, all ethnicities, races, and all religions there are good and there are bad folks. Having preconceived notions of those we do not know personally is a human phenomenon, but allowing ourselves to really know someone else beyond the judgments we pass is divine. I really do hope for the sake of humanity, that those who choose to read this book, are able to critically analyze the content, expose themselves to other sources of information, and so develop their own notions about Islam. Afterall, following blindly and not questionning is what the real cult is. Educate yourselves well.

Well what can I say to Menezes is that he is just lost in this world, All he does and others like him comment on actions of the prophet,why did he do this and why he did that,I have come to understand that Allah is my Lord and Quran is his book without doubt and that Muhammad(SAW) is his prophet, just like Juses,Moses and Abraham(AS). So Muhammad being the prophet of Allah I will accept everything that prophet did even if i dont undertand it. The work of Fr. Menezes is no different from literary works over the ages from so called scholars of all religions who have made every attempt to debase other faiths. The truth is that it is only Islam which proclaims that their is no monopoly on Truth and ALL Messengers/Prophets from God were truthful. Being a non Muslim and having read a lot about Islam, I come to the conclusion that Menezes seems to have very little knowledge and seems to be living in a fantasy world of his own.

Being a non Muslim, I do understand that we have our own views regarding other religions but to write complete non sense about a religion simply to make it look very bad is not really the way.

It certainly did get a response from Islamics. Such hate which they freely have is not in the vocabulary or teachings of our Lord Jesus. the problem with the Muslims is they do worship 2 gods, allah and mohamed. This is tragic and irrational.

Please, how can you people even argue this with a straight face? If Christians flew planes into downtown Tehran, you think Billy Graham or any of the other Christian leaders would speak out?...of course they would.

And let me just finsh by addressing the argument back from my post...there is no US military action or policy that justifies 9/11 or any other terrorist attacks. The US has defended muslims around the world. Usually, muslims focus on "US policy" as the basis for their anger. Are they angry about us defending Kuwait? Are they angry about us stopping the ethnic cleansing of muslims in Serbia? Or maybe they are angry about us freeing 30 or 40 million muslims from Saddam or the Taliban. I know...it must be from when we supported their leader Osama in the resistance against the Soviets. We have probably defended more muslims than any other religious group. Bottom line...they are angry because we support Israel and they hate Israel.

As I've read the reviews I've noticed very few people realize that THIS BOOK WAS WRITTEN OVER 90 YEARS AGO - I don't think the auther is worried about making a profit (not anymore at least), nor is this book inspred by recent events. Ignorance spawns misunderstanding.

Mohammed is a false prophet because he did not point to Jesus as the Son of God. Some reviewers praise Jesus' prayer, the Lord's Prayer. But Jesus also said that "No man comes to the Father except by Me." Muslims insist that they pray to the same God as Abraham, Moses and Jesus. But that God sent his Son to die on the Cross and be resurrected again on the third day, and His name was Jesus. Recognition and worship of any "god" who did not do that deprives the one true God and His Son of the worship they deserve. And denial of Jesus' great sacrifice is the same as turning one's back to Him and the God that sent Him.

Rest assured, it is not the Devil who is behind criticism of the Islamic religion. The spread of false religions is right up the Devil's alley!

I have nothing against those of the Islamic religion. They are free to believe as they want. But when so-called peaceful Muslims take to the streets to protest drawings of Mohammed (such taboos do not apply to non-Muslims) while they are nowhere to be seen when adherents of their religion fly airliners into the Twin Towers on 9/11, I simply am unable to respect them. Furthermore, I still remember seeing Muslims dancing in the streets for joy over 9/11 in towns and cities all over the Islamic world. I know those people are not peaceful, and as far as I am concerned, protests to the contrary simply fall on my deaf ears.

Such book is very important for the humanbeeings to know the truth. I hope it will be translated to all other languages mainly to arabic language.

Excellent, historically accurate and without animosity. The book should be required reading by every non-muhammedan child (if for no other reason than to level the playing field of propaganda) It is remarkable that Fr. Menenses could tolerate the hate and resentment that came from the mindless followers of Muhammed and he deserves Sainthood for his work and insightful observations and accuracy of his research. Check any dictionary for the definition of the word "cult" and you could easily substitute islam in it's place. Marvelous book. I recommend it to everyone, expecially those who are forbidden to question their police state religion of Muhammed.

In his preface, Fr. Menezes disarms his readers by telling them that “I have sought to state the bare facts without comment, and whilst compromising nothing of the truth, have endeavored to avoid everything like partisanship or prejudice” (v). As one reads through the volume, however, Fr. Menezes progressively leaves aside his original intent and falls into unadulterated diatribes and unabated falsifications. By the end of the book, Fr. Menezes, having thoroughly discredited Muhammad and his religion, endeavors to appeal to his Muslim readers to accept the true prophet that God sent into the world: “Jesus Christ is the way, the truth, and the life; there is no other way to heaven but through Jesus Christ” (185).

What, according to Fr. Menezes, are the most grievous failings of Muhammad? Three in particular will be examined here: (a) Conversion by the sword; (b) Brutal massacres of Jews, and (c) Sexual improprieties. Each of these will be examined in their turn.

I found this book sickening. Propagation of such extremist views should be condemned. Menezes promotes and escalates the current air of islamophobia. Let us be tolerant and accepting. I urge the publisher to remove such defamatory and hate crime inciting books.

Excellent book for the story Of Islam ... I am an Arab raised among the Muslims. When they say a religion of peace ... nothing further from the truth. Islam is the worship of the God of Moon (hence - flags with the Moon shape and the red color) the red resembles the color of blood as of Death. We pray that the Lord Jesus Christ can open the eyes of many poor Muslims. They claim that Christian are the worshiper of Statues, yet Muslims go around the black Rock in Mecca, kissing and worhipping it.

This was supposed to be a place to review the book and has instead turned into a place to argue religion. i will take advantage of this. I am a christian and i worship the one true God. i believe in the Trinity (God the Father, Holy Spirit, and Jesus Christ). Anyone who equates Allah, Mohammed, or any other false prophet to be the same as Jesus Christ is sorely mistaken. Thanks for all the book reviews! I just ordered this book and can't wait to sit down and read it. So much of this radical Islam is purely scary, and the more learn about it, the more disbelief I have that anyone can practice such a vile religion that was created by a rapist, murderer, and thief!

Some how I don't believe the previous reviewers actually have read the book. More like that they read the quotes above and made their own snap judgement. It's like having a debate with professed chirstians who have never read a page of the bible.

I am amazed at the no. of reviews by people who obviously have not read this book and display their complete ignorance of both Islam and Christianity. Rev. Menzies, a Roman Catholic priest in India, did not write this book for money nor did he write in order for Christians to critizise Islam. He wrote because of his genuine love and regard for the followers of Islam whom he believed were being misled by a false religion and thus are destined for eternal condemnation. His goal was to save their souls. Those who deny that the events in this book took place need only to check Islam's own historical sources, the "hadiths" and indeed even the "Quran" speaks of some of the battles and events. I have read this book as well as the Quran and "Reliance of the Traveller" and numerous other books written from Islamic sources. The reason I feel why so many Islamists express hatred for this book and its author is due to the inablity of Islam to come to grips with violent past. I strongly recommend that everyone (especially Islamists) read this book without predudice.

The author did not come to India to study Islam, but his goal was how he could chrtianize as much as he could of Muslims by giving them bread and honey.(needy of course) What he wrote was a copy of his predecessors who were very biased and with strong enimty against Islam. I haven't read the Koran. Someone mentioned to me Jesus was mentioned over 100 times while Mohamed over 30 times in that book. Also, Jesus was mentioned to be coming back to earth again while Mohamed is not to be heard again. Well Jesus is definitely coming back to earth again as clearly stated in the Bible, in the rapture and in the second coming. Just before Jesus comes again, Islam will fall just like communism did. Kingdoms and religions rise and fall but the Kingdom of Jesus Christ is eternal.

I haven't read the book, just the reviews of it. I haven't read the Koran,Qur'an, just the KJV Bible. All the argueing of I'm right and no I'm right is useless. Except God open someone's eyes it is for nothing. It says in Job 34:29 that if God hides himself from a nation or a person they cannot find him. It is all God's doing whether anyone finds out the truth. It says in Acts 16:14 that God had to OPEN Lydia's heart to hear the word. That includes anybody, the notion that God will force anyone to be saved is not in the Bible. Jesus says in Matt 22:14 that many are called, but few CHOSEN. It's God that does the CHOOSEING.

I read in one review it said basically how do you know that the Bible is God's word. It tells you what's going to happen in the future. In Rev. & Zech 14, Zech 12:2-3 sounds like a headline out of the daily newspaper. As to an angel appearing with further revelations, Gal 1:6-9 warned that even if an angel from heaven appeared preaching another gospel, LET HIM BE ACCURESED. Paul says in 2 Cor 11:13-15 that SATAN himself can transform himself into an angel of light and his ministers can do the same. The Bible says in Jer 29:13 seek and you shall find me when you search with all your heart. Jesus says in Lk 11:9-13 that the heavenly Father will give the Holy Spirit to them that ask. It says in Ps 34:18 that a broken heart and contrite spirit is what God wants. Humble yourselves to God, ask him to show you the truth, and keep asking.

This book is a must read. Like a few other books in print today it exposes Islam and the so called "prophet" for the barbaric cult that they both are. Maybe some of the Islamic faith will read this book and see the light.

This book does not go far enough. I urge people to read a [pre-1960!] Koran. It is shocking to realize how distorted things have become- with the truth right there to be read and seen. The Koran is a badly plagiarized compilation of out-of-order misunderstandings of the Christian and Jewish bibles. Mohammed, while trying to fabricate a common Arab history in order to unite them behind his scavenging power grabs, often makes grammatical and sequential errors. He takes the posture of countering anything pro-Christian or Jewish by twisting stories- such as Jacob and Essau or Ishmael: making biblical bad-guys ~good~, and good-guys ~bad~. The book reads like something from a mental institution. Honestly. He gives instructions for raping of hostages and violating stolen virgins so that they'll still fetch good money by hiding the rapes. he asserts that only Arabic is spoken in heaven and anyone not reading his grand work in Arabic is to go straight to hell [preferably after having their heads slowly cut off]. The ~Virgins~ jihadists are rewarded with are males. It goes on and on- but, before you cite violent parts of the Vedas or Old or New Testaments; read an early Koran [pre- makeover]. Meneze’s book almost suggests that the problems with the Loran are just religious differences. Islam is barely a religion. It was a militarist movement from the get-go and has never changed.

Religious extremists of all stripes are ruining human chances for evolving into a sane tolerant society of equals that aren't killing one another every 2 minutes somewhere on the planet. Menezes provides a very interesting historical perspective on a figure that is often presented purely as a religious myth. However, I think that the true test of a religion is not where it came from, but where it is today. Islam is filled with hatred and killing, and not only the killing of 'unbelievers' but of other Muslims as well. The voices of Muslim leaders are loudest in calling for jihad and almost unheard in calling for peace. Islam has been twisted into a very dangerous form of fascism by those that claim to be the most devout Muslims on the planet. They are using Islam to achieve their goals, much as Mohammed is described as doing in this enlightening book. We need to learn from this.

Reading the absurd islamic responses that ask a dead, YES DEAD, author to learn more about Islam, gives me reason to understand that they 1) did not read the book and 2) are not telling the truth about it. So now I am curious to see what it actually says. To respond to a book on Islam by reciting a litany of wars that have plagued Western nations, whether or not condemned by Christians, shows your own bias. Yet some who have actually read this book indicate that it is not asking for hate of, nor violence toward Moslems but pointing to inconsistencies between what many Moslems proclaim and its own written word. And such words are the basis for the terrorists beliefs. Certainly most Moslems are not terrorist nor believe the distorted rants of those committing evil. Maybe that is what this book actually points to. But to expect a Catholic missionary to believe in Islam is also like asking a Moslem Imam to believe in the Trinity. I would hope rational thought would distinguish between what is truth and what is opinion.

You are right in saying what you said in this book. Not that all Muslims are bad, in every religion there are good people and bad people. You can't say that all Christians are good or all Muslims are bad. But if any religion preaches that they will go to heaven by killing people of other religion that is some thing to think about. It is time Muslims should start reforming their religion by rejecting obnoxious things like fatwa (how can one man decide that some one should be eliminated) and women oppression and other barbaric contents.

I urge the people f the world to read the quran and hadiths before comparing it with the book that was written by Mr Menezes.or vice versa. a book totally written by one sided person has no place in today's world. we should be fair and judge from two sides of the coin instead of basing our research based on one book that couldn't even explain the lies he claims is in the quran word for word. it was only in 1970s that scientists actually discovered the human reproduction systemwhich was in the quran written centuries before. mind you, mohammed was no scientist.

Mr. Menezes is obviously well-acquainted with the subject matter. His book is an excellent, factual resource for those who are curious as to the origins and teachings of Islam as well as the life and times of Muhammad. The author pulls no punches.

Be ready to read through the same passages a couple of times, though, because the book is written in very archaic english so it is not particularly easy to read.

Great men that existed throughout history were qualified as such due to a certain trait in their characters. Gandhi for example, was a great politician, Shakespeare a great dramatist, Voltaire a great writer, Napoleon a great military leader and so on. They were all great in one aspect or the other, while the Prophet (SAWS) was great in every aspect of his life. He was so great morally that he never hit or humiliated a soul, never beat a woman, never betrayed or lied, never went back on his word or avenged himself. He was always called 'the truthful and honest one' before bearing the message of Islam, and after becoming a prophet, the values and principles of the Quran were the model for his behavior He was great at forgiving others. On the day of the Conquest of Makkah, his companions were rejoicing saying, Today is the day of a great battle and today Quraysh will be humiliated by Allah. Conversely, the prophet's (SAWS) response was that today is the day of mercy in which Allah will bestow honor on Quraysh.
His enemies were never able to slander him due to any bad trait. He lived with them for 40 years before the divine message and another 13 years after it, and never were they able to smear him with a single bad trait that marred his character, or doubt his outstanding abilities. They even testified that he had never lied in his life. That is how great he was and that is how humiliating him smears every American, Indian, Pakistani etc.; everyone, whether Muslim or not. It is an insult to all humankind when such a great man is insulted.
He was merciful even with animals narrating that, A man saw a dog eating mud from (the severity of) thirst. The author presents a well documented and detailed account of the life of Mohammed and his false religion. Unfortunately most of the ones who truly need to read this book will not. (the Islamist and the Left Wing Americans and Left wings from other countries.) Then the ones who do read it will take it personally and denounce the truth in this book, just as they have the Bible.

so, let me understand this. some verses taken out of context in an article in the mainstream american media (which is obviously biased and caters to a certain readership and promotes a specific political agenda) are your only 'proof' insofar as islam being a "perverted way of life" is concerned. These verses have been taken out of context from Islamic history. These were commands given out at a SPECFIC time over a specific incident so you again are a being highly naive in throwing these at me.

so.. to someone who has not read the bible and does not know much about christianity- if these verses are shown combined with the extremism of KKK and the slavery of africans by the hands of europe or of the columbians by the hands of americans- what is that someone to think? and unless he uses his mind and explores your religion and reads about the incidents that these verses were in reference to, how is he to know that christianity is not a religion of violence and is not horrible for women.

It is very clear that 90% of the posters have not read this excellent book. The book was written over 90 years ago. The reverend mentions passages or suras throughout the book. To the muslems who say the priest is prejudiced,since he is quoting passsages and suras directly from the Koran this is why you cannot present any facts, it is in black and white. he is only breaking down what is written in your own holy book and hadiths.you never answer any legitimate questions asked by people like,show us what we have to look forward to when Islam rules the world/ how come non muslims cannot travel to mecca? By the way,mecca was used by the pagans not long before mohammed showed up with very similar rituals,the black stone,walking around seven times etc etc.how come you don't present evidence of the priets lies about mohammed or any other parts of his well researched book that was thirty years in the making?
